Latest Industry Guidance - Fire Resistance
The UK Government statutory guidance stated within ‘Approved Document B’ Volume 1, the 2029 amendments, regarding the fire safety provisions incorporates the removal of the national classes for fire resistance (i.e. the previously acceptance of fire resistance doorsets tested to BS 476: Part 22: 1987 and classified as ‘FD60’ for a 60 minutes fire performance is no longer permitted).
In anticipation of this nationwide industry change, which replaces the BS 476 series of testing methodology with the European testing and classification system, all fire resistance doorsets will be required to be classified in accordance with EN 13501-2 to be supplied to the UK marketplace. Our products have already been classified for up to a period of 240 minutes integrity performance (i.e. E240 performance).
At SSS Industrial Doors Ltd, we believe in a pro-active, transparent approach with all our customers (trade and end-users). As a result, we have made our Classification Report No. 416674, publicly available on our website. This allows end-users, Building Control Authorities, Fire Officers, or Principal Designers to download our Classification Report and check the scope of the product for compliance with the latest building regulations and guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of some questions that are worthwhile asking when researching and requesting quotes.
Do you supply nationwide?
Yes. We are based in Bolton, but supply all over the UK!
How often should industrial door products be maintained?
To align with the government’s workplace health and safety regulations, regular maintenance of workplace equipment and machinery should be carried out to ensure they are in efficient working order. For fire safety installation products, you should check them when you carry out fire risk assessments: every six months is recommended. You need to make sure professionals are checking them to spot any operation faults or things you may miss, that’s why a maintenance contract is highly recommended to ensure you’re always compliant with health and safety regulations.
What if a product needs urgent repair?
Although rare, we can assure you that if there is any fault detected, our maintenance and repair team offer a 24-hour call-out service who aim to repair a product within 24 hours of being contacted.
What is the turnaround from ordering to installation?
We aim to complete all products within approximately one week from the date of official order, with an open option to deliver products direct to yourselves or direct to site.
What kinds of businesses do you manufacture fire safety and security installation products for?
Whatever the industry or size of premises, we can tailor fire protection and security products to suit individual operations, factoring in the aesthetic and functionality. Whether you run an office, factory, industrial unit, school, or retail business, we manufacture and supply compliant fire protection and security products for a range of applications.
Are your products tested and certified?
Yes. For our fire products, there are different fire ratings – depending on the product – that show the number of minutes the product can provide fire protection for. We test our products at recognised and certified independent fire safety testing sites. All of our security and fire safety products always meet up-to-date certification and marking requirements.
