It all depends on the fire rating level. Fire shutters are manufactured to three main fire rating levels, with the number indicating the number of minutes the product can provide fire protection for before any potential damage to the rest of the building can occur. Our fire shutters can provide fire protection for one hour (E60), two hours (E120), or four hours (E240).
Flame Armour Fire Shutters
Our certified fire shutters are UKCA and CE marked, fully compliant to the latest standard (EN 16034:2014) and in line with current government legislation, mandatory as of 1st November 2019. All fire shutters manufactured have a certificate of constancy of performance.

At SSS Industrial Doors we manufacture our shutters to supply trade and offer a full installation service nationwide. We were one of the first manufacturers to successfully test our ‘Flame Armour’ fire shutters to the new government standard 16034:2104 and one of the first to successfully provide a fully compliant CE and UKCA marked product. EN16034 is the new standard that supersedes BS476 part 22 (1987). The ‘Flame Armour’ fire shutter can be fitted to both masonry and steel structures. Having obtained additional testing data, ‘Flame Armour’ products can be legally installed to a timber stud partition. We have also carried out further testing, extending the available applications for ‘Flame Armour’ products to include a gravity fail safe motor which will close in the event of fire, power failure or any other fault.
Our fire shutters offer fire integrity for up to four hours with E60, E90, E120 and E240 ratings available.
We are certified for installation upon various structural openings such as masonry, steel or timber stud partition.
Our products are fully UKCA marked and CE marked to EN 16034:2014.

Product description:
The ‘Flame Armour’ fire-resistant roller shutter is a fully certified CE and UKCA marked product, an electrically operated automatic fire shutter to be used for fire compartmentation and/or escape routes. The product has been tested for installation to masonry, steel or timber stud structural openings.
Product performance:
The original test specimen was tested to EN 1634-1:2018 on 8th February 2019 and achieved an Integrity (E) performance of up to 240 minutes on a masonry structural opening. Further EN 1634-1:2018 testing was conducted on 7th July 2020, with product alterations to allow for installation upon a timber stud structural opening, achieving an Integrity performance of up to 90 minutes. These fire-resistant roller shutters are covered by EN 13241-1 and are classified for fire resistant characteristics in accordance with EN 16034:2014.
In accordance with EN 15269-10:2011 and WarringtonFire Classification Report No. 416674 (Issue 3), ‘Flame Armour’ fire-resistant shutters can be manufactured to clear opening sizes of 10m width and 10m in height.

Optional Gravity-Fail Safe:
SSS Industrial Doors Ltd additionally tested a gravity fail-safe motor which ensures that the fire-resistant roller shutter fully closes even in the event of a power failure. The DC motor has an electrical internal brake which in the event of a power failure will release and the shutter will descend in a controlled manner.

If this isn’t possible, which is common, it is strongly advised to install fire-resisting constructions to separate the areas, such as fire shutters. Fire shutters also help you abide by fire safety regulations and fire risk assessments.

If we’re selling in the EU, yes. But, since Brexit, most goods sold in Great Britain that were previously subject to CE marking will need UKCA marking.
